Greetings and Well Met!

You have reached the Barony of Concordia of the Snows
Chatelain’s information site!

If you are looking at these pages you are probably hoping to find more information about the Society for Creative Anachronism in general and more specifically the Barony of Concordia of the Snows.

I hope the information I have here helps to answer some of your questions. If it does not, then please feel free to email me and ask. That’s what I’m here for!

The Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. ( SCA, Society ) is a nonprofit educational organization devoted to the study of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, having over 31,000 members worldwide. Most of its activities take place in the context of a social structure adapted from the forms of the European Middle Ages, which allows participants to take a first-hand look at the various aspects of the life, culture and technology of the times under study.

As a living history group, the Society provides an environment in which members can recreate various aspects of the culture and technology of the period, as well as doing more traditional historical research. We sponsor events such as tournaments and feasts where members dress in clothing styles worn in the Middle Ages and Renaissance, and participate in activities based on the civil and martial skills of the period. These activities recreate aspects of the life and culture of the landed nobility in Europe, roughly from the fall of the Roman Empire through the reign of Queen Elizabeth, or approximately 600-1650 CE. The dress, pastimes, and above all the chivalric ideals of the period serve to unify our events and activities.

Our business meetings and practices are generally open to all who wish to attend, and unless otherwise stated in the description of the meeting or practice, no garb is expected and no fee is charged. Event listings for local events can be found on our website, and kingdom-wide listings can be found on the East Kingdom website.

We also have a Google group where day-to-day topics pertaining to members and residents of the Barony are discussed. I encourage all members and residents of our Barony to join this list to keep up to date on important topics such as upcoming events and meetings. Also, feel free to post to the list should you feel the need. Your first post may take some time to show up since first postings have to go through a moderating procedure, but please be patient.

In Service,
Lady Janna von Guggisberg
